Manilva Town Hall announces as a historic milestone the launch of the Equality Plan after years of press releases and after stating in 2021 that it had already been drawn up.
Once again, the newspaper archive reveals contradictions in the recurring press releases issued by Manilva Town Hall itself, which continue to surprise.
The Equality Plan is in the news again today, with the Town Hall highlighting that it is a goal achieved for the first time in its history, aimed at guaranteeing equal treatment and equal opportunities for women and men within the municipal administration, a document that has been in process and generating news for more than eight years.
The launch of this plan is undoubtedly an important step towards strengthening equality policies at municipal level. However, a review of the publications issued by the Town Hall itself in recent years shows that the process has had a long history and some contradictions in the information released.
In 2021 the Town Hall had already stated that the plan was drawn up
One of the most striking aspects is that on 10 April 2021 the Town Hall itself published a news item titled «The Town Hall draws up an Equality Plan», which literally stated that:
«Manilva Town Hall has drawn up an Equality Plan». According to that press release, the plan would serve as the basis for workshops for municipal staff between April and May of that year, with the aim of promoting good treatment and reinforcing concepts related to equality within the local administration.
Years of meetings and publications
Despite that statement in 2021, in the following years the Town Hall itself continued to announce new phases relating to the drawing up of the same plan.
In 2022, meetings were reported for the preparation of the Equality Plan, as well as the creation of the committee in charge of developing it, with the participation of municipal officials and workers’ representatives.
Later, in October 2025, the council again reported progress on this project with a technical meeting attended by municipal technicians, union representatives and professionals from the specialist company responsible for drawing up the document.
That same month, workshops were also held for municipal staff to explain the content of the plan.
At last, we have a Plan
Today, the Town Hall has again announced that the municipal Equality Plan is now under way, which represents progress in strengthening equality policies within the local administration.
However, a review of the municipal newspaper archive shows that the development of this important instrument has been a protracted process, with different phases of work, meetings and announcements over several years, and even earlier communications that already stated that the plan had been drawn up.
In any case, confirmation of its launch now represents a step forward in consolidating equality policies within Manilva Town Hall, after a process that has lasted more than 8 years.
