This afternoon an information meeting was held between residents of the Jardines de Sabinilla development and representatives of Manilva Town Hall, with the aim of clarifying the use that will be made of the works currently under way in the Bosquipark area. The meeting was ultimately held in the very area that has generated the controversy and lasted approximately 2 hours.
Approximately one hundred residents attended the meeting, as well as representatives of all the political groups with seats on the council: Francisco Becerra and Augusto Gil for the PSOE, Juan Carlos Morejón for Con Andalucía IU, Antonio José Marín and Cristina Calvente for VOX, Jose Manuel Fernandez and Dean Tyler Shelton for the PP, who were the promoters of the original project, and Marcos Ruiz for Compromiso, together with Mayor Mario Jimenez. Staff from Nivassa, as the community’s administrator, who have been present at various meetings related to the project, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the mayor of Manilva wished to convey a clear and reassuring message to all those present, publicly committing that the facilities will under no circumstances be used as a soup kitchen or a food distribution point.
“This space is not going to be a soup kitchen and no food will be distributed from here. The project includes a kitchen because of the technical and infrastructure requirements of the project, which can no longer be halted, but its use will be focused on educational and training purposes”, said the mayor.
In this regard, the Town Hall explained that the new approach aims to steer the use of these facilities towards an educational focus, considering options such as the creation of a hospitality school or a training classroom linked to the sector, with the aim of promoting skills and job training among the residents of the municipality, although for the time being the final use has not been fully settled.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of open dialogue, in which residents were able to express their concerns and receive direct information from those responsible at the Town Hall, thus contributing to greater transparency and understanding about the future of this project.
Manilva Town Hall reiterates its commitment to citizen participation and to keeping the public informed of any relevant progress or changes in this project, and will even present an item at the next council meeting to reassure residents, so that all the representatives involved in the government can clarify a little more the final use that will be made of these facilities.
