On the morning of Thursday, in response to recent events relating to the defects found in the wall of the school canteen, which is adjacent to the seafront promenade, part of the Board of the Ampa Oleaje of the Colegio San Luis de Sabinillas met with the Education councillor, Fina Gómez, and municipal technicians to learn first-hand the details of the problem and of the forthcoming work to be carried out to resolve it, in order to obtain detailed information about it.
After hearing the situation from the technicians, the AMPA wishes to send a message of reassurance to families, as only one of the canteen walls is affected, in the infant school building (the old school next to the seafront promenade). According to the municipal technicians, this wall has deteriorated over time due to the action of the sea and environmental conditions. The internal steel bars in the wall have been found to be rusted, weakening its strength. To resolve this, the wall will be demolished, followed by the reconstruction of the pillars with carbon fibre reinforcement. This work will ensure greater durability and strength in the future.
In order to continue providing the much-needed canteen service at the school, Manilva Town Hall will take measures and install a marquee in the concrete playground area of the infant section. The marquee will be fitted out and will remain there until the canteen works are completed, which are estimated to take approximately three months, according to the same municipal technicians.
The AMPA has wished to make sure that the safety and wellbeing of the pupils are given the highest priority, and thanks everyone in advance for their understanding and support while this process of improving the school’s facilities lasts. The Town Hall, the AMPA and the school management all wish to provide a safe, high-quality educational environment for all pupils.
