The resurfacing plan, the removal of discharges into the Estanquillo stream, the car parks on calle Aurora Albornoz and the extension of the seafront promenade are among the projects addressed by the Town Hall.
Manilva Town Hall has reported on a working meeting between the mayor, Mario Jiménez, and the Infrastructure and Works councillor, Marcos Ruiz, accompanied by a municipal technician, to update and coordinate various works projects planned in the municipality.
According to the Town Hall, several of these projects will be processed through public tenders. The council’s aim is for the contracts to be signed before the end of 2026, so that work can begin as soon as possible.
Resurfacing, discharges and new car parks
Among the key projects is the resurfacing plan, which the Town Hall describes as imminent. The removal of discharges into the Estanquillo stream was also discussed, a project which, according to the council’s information, is in its final phase.
The list of projects also includes the creation of car parks on calle Aurora Albornoz, announced last February, with the intention of introducing two-way traffic on calle Aurora de Albornoz. This would reorganise the 32 parking spaces that currently exist so that vehicles can park both parallel and at an angle, and would recover the 15 parking spaces lost after the latest redevelopment of Plaza de los Naranjos.
Another matter discussed was the site setting-out record (acta de replanteo) for the covering over of the watercourse at the Castillo, a procedure linked to the preparation and execution of this project, as well as the installation of new lighting at the church of Santa Ana and in the parish cemetery.
The seafront promenade and the Manilva-Sabinillas path
The meeting was also used to review the status of other larger-scale projects. These include the extension of the seafront promenade at the level of Plaza del Greco, which is currently going through the tender process.
Progress was also reviewed on the Day Centre and the Parque del Agua, as well as the second phase of the pedestrian and cycle path between Manilva and Sabinillas.
As for the projects planned on calle Norte in Puerto de la Duquesa, the Town Hall states that the technical documentation is being compiled and the necessary authorisations are being processed so that work can move forward.
The timetable set out by the Town Hall is to have the contracts for these projects signed before the end of the year.
