Progress in animal protection and sustainable tourism

-

Noelia Muñoz and Dean Tyler Shelton, councillors for the Environment and Tourism departments, have taken a fundamental step towards the welfare of stray cats. In a productive meeting with representatives of the Asociación Gatos y Amigos (AGYA), matters of interest to the municipality were discussed.

Manilva Town Hall has decided to award a grant to the AGYA association. This funding will allow the CES protocol (Capture, Sterilisation and Release) to be put into practice, an effective strategy for controlling colonies of free-roaming and semi-free-roaming cats in our town.

The main aim of this initiative is to care for and protect the feline community, guaranteeing their welfare and avoiding possible problems both for the cats and for our residents. By applying the CES protocol, we ensure responsible control of the stray cat population, which helps to improve their quality of life and to foster a harmonious environment in our surroundings.

This is an important step towards a more animal-friendly town and towards sustainable tourism that values and protects our urban wildlife. Thanks to the collaboration with the AGYA association, the commitment of the new governing team to protecting the environment and animal welfare is strengthened.
