The party is asking for a solution to the overcrowding at IES Las Viñas and is calling on the Municipal Corporation to work alongside the AMPAs (parent associations) on the construction of a second secondary school.
Por Mi Pueblo Manilva has publicly called for a second secondary school to be built in the municipality and has urged the Junta de Andalucía to include the project in its 2027 regional budget.
The party made the request through its social media, where its secretary and local representative Daniel Muñoz stressed the need to respond to the situation at IES Las Viñas, which continues to cope with a high concentration of pupils.
The library and other spaces turned into classrooms
Por Mi Pueblo Manilva states that the overcrowding has forced the school to use spaces such as the library, the canteen and other facilities as classrooms, a situation which, according to the party, affects the conditions in which the municipality’s young people study.
In this context, the party considers it a priority for the Junta de Andalucía to define the project for the second secondary school and set out a budget provision that would allow progress towards its construction.
A call for political unity and for the AMPAs
The party has also appealed to the Municipal Corporation as a whole to continue working jointly with the parents’ associations (AMPAs), which have spent years calling for a solution to the lack of educational space.
The request comes at a time when families in Manilva and Casares are beginning to step up their demands for a new secondary school and to call for answers from the regional administration.
Por Mi Pueblo Manilva sums up its position with a direct message: «Fewer promises and more solutions», arguing that young people’s education cannot keep waiting.
Including the project in the 2027 budget would be a step forward in this campaign, although the construction of the school will depend on the decisions and actions the Junta de Andalucía ultimately takes.
