The municipal government has cancelled the call for the 3 November meeting because of scheduling problems affecting several councillors and has yet to set a new date to debate the closure and settlement of the budget.
Manilva Town Hall has cancelled the call for the extraordinary council meeting that had been scheduled for this Tuesday, 3 November, at 10:00. The decision is set out in a decree signed by the mayor, Mario Jiménez Rodríguez, on 30 October.
The session had a single item on the agenda: file 8940/2026, concerning the closure and settlement of the municipal budget.
According to the decree, the cancellation is due to «scheduling issues» that arose unexpectedly for several members of the Municipal Corporation, whose attendance is considered necessary for the proper constitution of the council meeting, the debate and the formation of its will.
No new date for the session
The official document states that, once the availability of the members of the Corporation has been coordinated, a new resolution will be issued to call the council meeting and address the pending file.
The session has therefore not simply been postponed to a specific date; its call has been annulled and a new one will have to be processed.
The decree also states that the decision has been taken to avoid holding an ineffective session and to ensure the highest possible attendance of councillors.
Another change to council meeting activity
The cancellation of this extraordinary council meeting comes a few weeks after the date change of the last ordinary council meeting in October, which was eventually moved to 5 October because several councillors and the mayor himself were absent, taking part in a cruise to the Norwegian fjords organised by the Town Hall’s Resident Foreigners department.
The succession of changes to council meeting calls once again raises the issue of the lack of organisation in municipal activity and the question of the availability of public representatives to ensure that scheduled sessions take place, on a matter as important as the justification of the Town Hall’s economic management, since the only item to be debated was the closure and settlement of the municipal budget.
The definitive call will be announced once availability has been coordinated among the members of the Corporation.
