Improvements to the Playas de Manilva ecological reserve

-

Environment technicians from the Junta de Andalucía visited the Playas de Manilva Ecological Reserve today.

The aim of the visit is to continue improving this environmental treasure within our municipality.

The Environment councillor, Laura López, together with the First Deputy Mayor, Diego José Jiménez, as well as Manuel Grondona, provincial coordinator, Laura Fernández and Alfonso León of the Junta de Andalucía’s Environment and Water Agency, toured the Reserve to plan the installation of around 5 floating walkways, which will help protect the exceptional flora of this natural area.

Laura López, speaking for the Environment department, highlighted the good relationship with the supramunicipal bodies, in this case the Junta de Andalucía. She also reviewed all the work carried out in this area over recent months. The latest was the placement of two entrance arches marking the boundaries of the reserve.

Diego José Jiménez explained that this unique setting, of incalculable natural value, is enjoyed daily by hundreds of people, which is why the Town Hall is giving it its full attention in order to conserve and improve it.

The willingness on all sides has been complete, so access to the beach will soon be possible at the various strategic points where the new floating walkways, which will protect the Reserve’s flora, are to be installed.
