Hotel planned for Martagina

-

One of the most significant items discussed at last Friday’s meeting of the Urban Planning Board concerned the Action Project on the El Molino estate, sector SUNS-10 in Martagina.

The proposal involves a large plot on which a hotel is planned, covering 41,557.99 m², together with an interpretation centre or museum hall of 17,390 m², where courses could be held relating to the Los Castillejos de Alcorrín archaeological site, of 357,506 m², and the Martagina site, of 21,937 m², both dating from the Bronze Age.

The creation of public roads, covering 10,204 m², is also planned.
According to the Urban Planning delegate, Marcos Ruiz, following various meetings and negotiations, the board has been presented with the procedure to begin the environmental assessment of the Special Plan of Public Interest. Once the urban planning proposal is approved and sent to the Junta de Andalucía for review, the owner will be able to build these themed facilities outside the archaeologically protected area, and Manilva Town Hall will acquire ownership of the land containing this important site as soon as the Junta approves the special plan.

The project will involve the Town Hall itself, as well as the UMA and the German Archaeological Institute, to enhance the site’s value and run courses. As the site is classed as a Bien de Interés Regional (Site of Regional Interest), it will be the Junta de Andalucía that studies and investigates it, in order to preserve it and open it to visitors.
