The various brotherhoods in the area are finalising their events ahead of another Holy Week. Both the Cofradía Nuestra Señora de los Dolores y Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno de Manilva and the Hermandad del Cristo del Amor y Nuestra Señora de los Dolores de Sabinillas have announced their programmes.
Sabinillas
The Hermandad del Cristo del Amor y Nuestra Señora de los Dolores has organised a calendar of activities running from 16 to 31 March, with a total of 8 events combining religious, cultural and popular elements.
The programme will begin with the proclamation (pregón) by José Luis Ruiz Pizani on Saturday 16 March at 19:30 at the parish church of Sabinillas.
The following days will be marked by the presentation of medals to new members (Friday of Sorrows, 22 March), the blessing of palms and olive branches (Palm Sunday, 24 March) and the placing of the crown of thorns on the Cristo del Amor (Holy Wednesday, 27 March).
On Maundy Thursday (28 March) the Lord’s Supper will take place at 21:00, followed by the Way of the Cross and the Holy Hour.
On Good Friday (29 March) the Holy Offices and the Adoration of the Holy Cross will be held at 17:00, with the day culminating in the procession of the Cristo del Amor and Nuestra Señora de los Dolores at 21:30.
The Easter Vigil will be held on Holy Saturday (30 March) at 21:00.
Holy Week in Sabinillas will conclude on Easter Sunday (31 March) with Holy Mass at 10:00, followed by the procession of the Risen Christ and the Virgen de la Alegría.
Manilva
The Cofradía de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores y Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno has presented a programme full of solemnity and tradition for Holy Week 2024 in Manilva.
The activities will begin on 22 March at 19:00 with the presentation of the processional marches by the Banda Municipal de Música and the proclamation (pregón) by Francisca Esteban Zotano.
On Palm Sunday, 24 March, there will be the blessing of the palms and Holy Mass, followed by the procession of the Borriquita.
On Holy Wednesday, 27 March, the Way of the Cross will take place at 23:00.
On Maundy Thursday, 28 March, at 19:00 the procession of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno will be held. The church will remain closed from 00:00 to 07:00 for the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
On Good Friday, 29 March, at 17:00 the Adoration of the Cross and the procession of the Holy Burial and Nuestra Señora de los Dolores will take place. At midnight, the procession of the Soledad will pass through the streets in silence.
On Holy Saturday, 30 March, at 23:00, the Blessing of the Fire and the Easter Vigil will be held.
On Easter Sunday, 31 March, Holy Week will conclude with Holy Mass at 12:00, followed by the processions of the Santísimo Cristo Resucitado and the Santísima Virgen del Rosario.
