Since 7am, the Guardia Civil has been carrying out an anti-drug trafficking operation in the Royal Manilva development, in which several people have been arrested.
Around 40 officers have taken part in the operation, cordoning off the development as well as the access routes to the centre of Manilva. Trained dogs, several vehicles and two drones were used, keeping the complex under surveillance throughout.
This development, located at the entrance to Manilva (just behind the Local Police station), has been at the centre of the news in recent months because of problems with squatting. Residents, the owners of most of the properties and the Town Hall itself are working to try to restore normality to the neighbourhood.
For Antonio Marín, an opposition councillor for VOX on Manilva Town Hall, «criminal acts are increasing exponentially throughout the municipality». According to his social media posts, «today’s operation is a consequence of the alleged shooting that took place inside on 14 July.»
The operation remains open and further arrests are not ruled out.
