The former councillor of Manilva Town Hall from 1991 to 2022 for the Partido Popular remains, one year after his resignation from the council, as Manager of the Consorcio Provincial de Residuos Sólidos Urbanos (RSU, the provincial urban solid waste consortium), a body under the Diputación Provincial de Málaga, a position he has held since two days before announcing his resignation from the Town Hall, with a gross annual salary of 63.258€.
Álvarez carried out the responsibilities and duties of the Tourism and Tourism Promotion, Media and Protocol departments, as well as within the Municipal Legal Advisory Office itself, and in the last term of office he served as head of institutional relations.
With a solid academic and professional background, Francisco Miguel Álvarez holds a law degree from the University of Málaga and is a member of both the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Málaga (Málaga Bar Association) and the Ilustre Colegio Territorial de Administradores de Fincas de Málaga y Melilla (the Málaga and Melilla property administrators’ association). He has also furthered his training with a specialisation in Urban Planning and Property Development from the Instituto de Práctica Empresarial, and took part in various courses and events organised by leading institutions such as the Universidad de Derecho de Málaga and the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Málaga.
His professional experience also includes his role as a correspondent for Antena 3 Radio in the first years after the media group was founded. He has also been a member of the board of the cooperative Sociedad Agraria de Transformación Manilva Agrícola e Industrial and has founded several professional firms in legal and consultancy fields, such as ÁLVAREZ ABOGADOS, S.C., GÓMEZ DE TORRES ASESORES LEGALES and FIDES SERVICES & MANAGEMENT.
Álvarez abruptly left his municipal political group, linked in recent years to the Partido Popular, to make way for the complete renewal of that party, disappearing entirely from all local events in order to devote himself fully to his new role as Manager of the Consorcio Provincial RSU, bringing his extensive experience in public administration and contributing to the well-being of, and dedication to finding environmental solutions and improving quality of life for, the residents of the province of Málaga.
