The Compromiso Manilva Municipal Group will take a motion to the extraordinary council meeting next Thursday, 21 November, calling for the creation of a €200,000 budget allocation to support new entrepreneurs in the municipality.
“We believe this assistance is essential to encourage people who are thinking of starting up to set up their business. This support comes at a good time, when the investment needed to set up a business sometimes makes entrepreneurs back out”, said the spokesperson for Compromiso Manilva, Mario Jimenez.
This allocation would be made by approving a budget modification in the form of extraordinary credits financed with the treasury surplus (remanente líquido de tesorería),
Jimenez recalled that Compromiso Manilva has an example of this approach from the previous term in the Town Hall: “we asked for the transfer of powers from the Junta de Andalucia; it was more than €500,000 across the three calls that we made available to Manilva’s business community”,
The CM spokesperson reiterated that “after analysing the data, we can state that more than a hundred businesses were launched in Manilva, the vast majority of which are still operating, making it clear that this initiative had an effectiveness rate of 93%.”
Finally, Mario Jiménez stressed that “the accounts of Manilva’s town council are in a healthy position, tackling the historic debt with a significant reduction in this year’s instalment and with a positive treasury surplus which this year has been above €7 million. Therefore, our group sees investing in our town’s new entrepreneurs as the best way to spend part of that positive surplus”, he concluded.
