Compromiso requests an extraordinary council meeting with 10 items

-

The municipal spokesperson for Compromiso Manilva, Mario Jiménez, together with the councillors of this political group, has registered a request to call an extraordinary council meeting, “due to the failure to comply with the agreements reached at previous council meetings and above all because of the paralysis that Manilva Town Hall is suffering under the current team of misgovernment”, says Jiménez.

The request is covered by Law 7/85 of 2 April, Regulating the Bases of Local Government, under which Compromiso Manilva, representing more than a quarter of the municipal corporation, can request that an extraordinary council meeting be held.

“We hope that the mayor will comply with the law and call this council meeting in due time and form, and that it does not have to be called by the Town Hall secretary, as with the previous extraordinary council meeting, following the mayor’s failure to act”, says Jiménez.

In this request Compromiso Manilva is bringing ten matters of interest to the municipality to the council meeting, “one of them is the budget modification for the programme of aid for entrepreneurs and self-employment, which after 3 consecutive years of operation had been removed this year, using credits from the treasury surplus, with an allocation of 200,000 euros for new entrepreneurs and the promotion of self-employment, aid so that people who are thinking of starting a business are encouraged to set up their company, at a time when the accounts of Manilva’s council are in a healthy position”.

Another of the items concerns the stabilisation process at the Town Hall and revoking mayoral decree 18/09/2023 and subsequent ones regarding the minimum mark in the process of stabilising employment at the Town Hall, so that all the candidates who meet the requirements can take up the vacant posts.

Regarding investment, another of the items is to urge the Junta de Andalucía to build the second secondary school in the municipality, as well as a new infant and primary school in Hacienda Guadalupe, to serve mainly the housing developments.

The Town Hall is also being asked to create a budget allocation for 2025 for investment in educational infrastructure in the municipality.

The matter of the mayor’s exclusive dedication is also one of the items on the agenda of this request: revoking the decree of the First Deputy Mayor of 23/08/2023 and returning to the agreement of the organisational council meeting of 10/07/2023, in its item No. 10.

“The mayor must stop deceiving the residents of Manilva and dedicate himself exclusively to the Town Hall. With this decree, what he has achieved is to work less, by seeking a change to the unavoidable exclusive dedication in order to earn more from other institutions outside our municipal corporation”, says Mario Jiménez.

A council meeting at which it is intended to debate the Public Employment Offer for 2025 for the relief contracts that ended in 2024, in addition to the 4 police posts that were unanimously approved at the June council meeting this year.

This request also includes a modification of the urban planning agreement for the Peñoncillo Maicandil-Arroyo de las uvas road, “so that the development and construction of the VPO (subsidised housing) planned for that sector can go ahead, which specifically means 110 homes.

Finally, Compromiso Manilva is also requesting a reduction in the rate of urban Property Tax (IBI) for 2025, from 0.6% to 0.5%; as well as joining the FEMP Central Purchasing Body and an institutional declaration on 25N, “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women”.
