Compromiso Manilva takes stock of the first year of government

-

The spokesperson for Compromiso Manilva, Mario Jiménez, today (Monday) gave an assessment of the «municipal misgovernment» of Manilva Town Hall, one year after Mr Fernández and his team took over the mayor’s office in Manilva.

«A lost year for our town. They have done nothing of what they promised; they have run a government of posturing and self-promotion, living off the management we carried out in the previous term. Manilva is more neglected than ever, and the worst part is that we do not know when they intend to start working,» said Jiménez.

The Compromiso Manilva councillor stressed that «every day we see our town sunk in complete abandonment and neglect; anyone who goes for a walk can see the lack of cleanliness in our streets, owing to the lack of will to organise an area as sensitive as cleaning. Not to mention the neglect of urban maintenance, something incomprehensible in a municipality whose political leaders supposedly want to promote tourism.»

Mario Jiménez pointed out that «they have not had the ability to manage all the projects we left under way, nor even to bring into use the premises in the Puerta del Mar building, or to install the lift in the Pasaje de los Arrieros; not to mention that the few works they have carried out have been done badly, real botch jobs such as the planters on the seafront promenade.»

Compromiso Manilva regrets that Mr Fernández and his team «not only do nothing, but pass the buck on every issue, always blaming the previous governing team.»

«This team came as the saviour of the housing estates, and it turns out that a year later they are more neglected than ever and have worsened in terms of maintenance and all services,» said the CM spokesperson.

Jiménez recalled that until now they have lived off «the legacy of Compromiso Manilva, because the works and investments they have carried out to date are those already set in motion by the previous government, but the easy ride is coming to an end. They can no longer make excuses and must get down to work for our town, and they must do it now.»

Finally, it should also be recalled that the current mayor promised during the campaign the support of the supramunicipal institutions, «the only thing we have seen is services such as healthcare in the municipality getting worse; the lack of appointments and medical care in the municipality is incredible. And as for security, it has not improved; instead there is a feeling of insecurity in the municipality.»
