On Sunday at 22:16, the current mayor of the town, Jose Manuel Fernández, published a text on his social media account, apparently his own as it cited no sources and, judging by its content, supposedly aimed at the opposition. However, as revealed by «Compromiso Manilva», almost all of it is copied from a «Letters to the readers» article by Mr Jose María Pérez Rodríguez dated 29 April 2020, published in a newspaper in Oviedo.
The post published by the town’s current mayor begins as a copy of the article that his fellow countryman wrote for the Oviedo newspaper: «In politics, as in life, you have to know how to arrive, how to stay and how to leave when the time comes, and it always comes, however much some politicians, like tantrum-throwing children, who neither knew how to stay nor how to leave, refuse. This ‘knowing how to stay’ and ‘leaving’ is called dignity. A term that etymologically comes from the Latin word dignitas: to be worthy, to deserve.»
Compromiso Manilva announced it on its social media accounts:
🤥We knew that Mr Fernández was an impostor and a liar, but we did not know he would cross certain red lines of shamelessness and plagiarism.
😳The mayor of Manilva sets himself up to give lessons in political dignity on his social media, copying and pasting word for word articles that are not his own.
📝That is what he has done: he has plagiarised an opinion article published in the newspaper La Nueva España on 29 April 2020.
🤡Mr Fernández must take off his fraud’s mask and, if he had the «political dignity» he boasts of so much, he would resign.
😳We do not know who he is, where he is from, or what his intentions are in our town.
👎🏼The residents of Manilva do not deserve a lying mayor.
