Classes suspended at schools this Wednesday

-

Aemet has raised to red warning, the highest level of alert, the areas of Málaga city, the Costa del Sol, the Guadalhorce Valley and the Axarquía from 10:00 in the morning until 23:59 due to accumulated rainfall of more than 120 litres in 12 hours.

The raising of the phase follows technical reports, weather forecasts and predictions for the coming hours in the province of Málaga, where a red warning for rain (significant risk) has been in force since 10:00 in the early morning in the areas of Antequera, Axarquía, Sol and Guadalhorce. The decision was also taken in collaboration with the mayors of the affected areas, according to the Emergency Coordination Centre (Cecem112).

This means classes will be suspended tomorrow, Wednesday, at all schools in the areas affected by the red warning, that is, Antequera, Axarquía, Sol and Guadalhorce in Málaga, as well as Almuñécar, Motril and Albuñol in the province of Granada. The measure also affects day centres and centres for people with disabilities that depend on the Junta de Andalucía. The Regional Ministry of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification said the suspension of activity could also be extended to Thursday 14 November.

Civil Protection has activated the prevention system and Es-Alert mobile phone warnings.
