Changes in the governing team

-

The Partido Popular leaves the local governing team, which is now made up solely of Compromiso Manilva and the PSOE. The council meeting of 9 August saw the farewell of the outgoing PP councillor, who will be replaced in the department by Juani Ortiz Vargas, according to a statement on the party’s social media. She is currently number two on the PP list that stood in the 2019 municipal elections and had already served as a councillor in the previous term of office in 2015.

The departure of the now former PP councillor F.M. Ávarez also brings about the end of his presidency of the party at local level, a post that passes provisionally to the secretary general of the Manilva PP, José Miguel Ahumada. Together with Juani Vargas, he will be responsible for shaping a party and a new team that, according to the same statement, «aims to achieve the necessary change in the mayor’s office in Manilva, to move towards a stage of real prosperity for this corner of the Costa del Sol and of Andalucía».

It remains to be seen when Mayor Mario Jiménez will call a council meeting for the incorporation of Juani Vargas, once the documentation has been requested from the Central Electoral Board.
