Francisco Becerra calls for urgent preventive measures and testing over possible health risks from the water in public fountains, and asks for the fountains to be signposted if the water is not drinkable.
The PSOE in Manilva has made public a complaint warning about the worrying state of the water coming from some of the municipality’s public fountains. According to the party, several residents have reported brown-coloured water at these facilities, which has caused alarm among the population over its possible lack of potability.
In a photograph shared by the Socialist group, the water can be seen coming out an evidently cloudy colour, which has led the PSOE Secretary General in Manilva, Francisco Becerra, to ask the Town Hall to act urgently on public health grounds.
«We urge the Town Hall to immediately ask the water company that manages the local supply to test the water from all the municipal fountains to determine whether it is fit for human consumption,» said Becerra. «And if it is not, we demand that all the fountains be signposted with visible signs reading ‘Non-Drinking Water’, to prevent residents from using it for drinking or cooking.»
The statement concludes: «We hope the Town Hall takes note of our request and acts urgently for the health of everyone.
