An extraordinary council meeting was held today on the extension of the contract for the management of the municipal drinking water supply and sewerage service. The proposal was approved with the votes in favour of the Partido Popular (PP) and Con Andalucía IU, the abstention of Compromiso Manilva and VOX, and the vote against of the PSOE, which opposed this extension and predicted that the water bill for residents of Manilva could rise by as much as 76%.
Following the presentation and the debate between the different municipal groups, the extension with the current concession holder, Hidralia, will run for the next ten years.
We note the 380º turnaround by Agustín Vargas of «Por Andalucía Izquierda Unida» regarding the continuation of this service with Hidralia, since this party’s election manifesto proposed returning the service to the public company Acosol, a position it has defended until today in various forums and interviews.
