VOX reports irregularities in hiring and pay at Town Hall

-

The serious irregularities at Manilva Town Hall, pointed out by the municipal comptroller, include «hiring outside legal channels and unaudited payments»; Antonio Marín has therefore demanded an «immediate external audit» to establish responsibilities, also as part of the agreement the mayor signed with VOX «to prevent problems such as the one now arising».

The VOX spokesman in Manilva, Antonio Marín, has reported serious irregularities in municipal hiring and pay, revealed in a report by the Town Hall’s comptroller. As Marín has pointed out, these practices represent a «political and legal aberration» that puts the economic and administrative stability of the council at risk.

«The comptroller has pointed out that appointments of temporary or trusted staff are being made without any record of the resolutions for those appointments. In addition, supplements and bonuses have been granted that have neither the corresponding approval nor auditing», Marín explained.

The report also details the lack of supporting documentation to justify payments to workers and the absence of the necessary auditing reports. According to Marín, these practices discriminate against public employees and favour some over others without justification, violating the principles of equality and transparency. «This is not a way to govern. Workers are all equal and you cannot pick at will the people you wish to benefit», he stressed.

Among the most serious points, Marín highlighted that hiring is taking place without guaranteeing that funds exist to pay the salaries, which has created uncertainty among municipal employees. «We are endangering the stability of this town hall. Spending other people’s money is easy, but here everyone’s money is at stake», he warned.

VOX has requested an external audit to clarify these irregularities and establish responsibilities. «The mayor has signed an agreement with VOX to carry out this audit, and we demand that it be honoured. Otherwise, we will not support any budget or recognition of debt in this Town Hall», Marín stated.

The spokesman concluded by pointing to the seriousness of the situation and his commitment to legality and transparency. «What is happening in Manilva has no recent precedent. We cannot allow these practices to carry on without consequences. It is time to act responsibly», he declared.

In this regard, VOX has reaffirmed its intention to defend the interests of the residents of Manilva and to ensure that the Town Hall operates within legal limits, prioritising fairness and transparency in public management.
