Vox proposes express evictions for squatters from Manilva

-

Vox proposes express evictions, tougher sentences and assistance for those affected as measures to tackle the squatting of homes, according to Patricia Rueda, head of the party’s list for Málaga in the national parliament, during a visit to Manilva alongside Antonio Luna, third on the list. Rueda expressed her concern at the rise in squatting cases in the province of Málaga and across the rest of Spain, stressing that Vox defends private property and that it cannot be the case that criminals are better protected than property owners.

The Vox leader noted that squatting particularly affects families who struggle to pay their mortgage or basic utilities, and highlighted that the phenomenon is linked to criminal organisations and groups that see it as their way of life. She also underlined the negative effects that squatting has on residents’ communities, including problems of safety and hygiene.

Rueda recalled that Vox submitted a bill in the Congress of Deputies with clear measures to combat squatting, and that its intention is to put it into effect in this new term. The proposed actions include express evictions, speeding up eviction proceedings, reinforcing the resources and means available to the State Security Forces, and toughening sentences through reform of the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Act.

The Vox leader also pointed out that in Castilla y León, where the party governs alongside the PP, an initiative against squatting was approved that includes these measures, as well as barring illegal occupants from municipal registration (padrón) and providing legal support and assistance to those affected.

In short, Vox proposes a series of forceful measures to tackle the squatting of homes, including express evictions, tougher sentences, strengthening police resources and support for affected owners.
