Tomorrow, Tuesday, at 15:51 the urban bus goes back for another ITV inspection, but this time in Estepona. Since last month this municipal vehicle has been running as normal around the town despite having an expired ITV. As a result, the afternoon service will start tomorrow, Tuesday, at 17:05 instead of 16:05.
As a reminder, this vehicle was mistakenly taken to Algeciras for the inspection on 18 August, a week before it was due, as its appointment was for the 25th. Once there, after the urban service had had to be suspended that morning, it had to return without the inspection having been carried out.
Following the inspection on Friday 25 August, which produced an unfavourable result after a defect was detected in the anchor points of several seat belts in the 3rd row of seats, the bus was taken to the garage for repair the same day and will try again tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the other municipal bus has a major breakdown and is awaiting repair.
The obsolescence of these vehicles is plain to see, leading to continual complaints from the users who rely on them as a means of transport. After failed attempts to modernise this municipal fleet in previous years, these buses have continued to represent a considerable expense for the municipal coffers, owing to their constant trips to the garage because of their age and mileage.
On 24 July, the Town Hall announced the opening of a new tender for the purchase of a new 30-seat minibus, which could be available at the start of next year.
