For the past couple of days, a group of around 10 narco-boats has been visible from Sabinillas beach, apparently camped out at sea waiting to carry out some kind of operation that the recent bad weather has prevented them from launching.
The mayor of Manilva and head of the Public Safety department, José Manuel Fernández, has urgently demanded that the Government Sub-delegation in Málaga take immediate measures to tackle the presence of narco-boats off the Manilva coast.
«This seriously damages the image of our municipality, in addition to the danger posed by a possible landing,» Fernández said.
The local mayor has urged the aforementioned supra-municipal body to deploy maritime and land resources to put an end to this scourge, and has requested reinforcements to support the work carried out by the Local Police and the Guardia Civil.
Fernández has warned of an increase in narco-boat activity in recent weeks, which is causing great concern among residents and shopkeepers in the area.
Manilva Town Hall is committed to continuing to work in coordination with the security forces to guarantee the safety and peace of mind of the municipality.
