The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, has received the Sendero Azul (Blue Trail) award in the Valencian municipality of Cullera for the route known as Sendero Playas de Manilva, an accolade recognising environmental management, the restoration of natural areas and the promotion of sustainable routes along the coast.
The award was granted by the Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor (ADEAC), which is also responsible for the Blue Flag programme. It recognises trails that connect with beaches or sites of environmental value and that meet criteria for conservation, signposting, accessibility and environmental education.
The renewal of this award highlights the work being carried out to restore and improve the municipality’s trails and paths, as well as to promote initiatives that encourage knowledge of and respect for the natural environment.
Manilva’s coastal trail
The Sendero Playas de Manilva runs along much of the municipality’s coastline, connecting different areas of the coast along a route that combines seafront promenade, specially protected natural stretches and access points to the beaches.
This route has become one of the most popular among both residents and visitors, offering a space for walking, sport and enjoying the municipality’s coastal landscape. It also allows people to discover different points along the Manilva coastline, linking urban areas with natural spaces and areas of great environmental value.
The Senderos Azules (Blue Trails) form part of a national network promoted by ADEAC, which aims to highlight paths and routes that contribute to protecting the environment and to the development of sustainable tourism, especially in coastal municipalities.
With this recognition, Manilva’s coastal trail renews its place in this network of routes distinguished for their commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of natural heritage.
