Last Saturday, the election of the Queens, Ladies and Misters for our town’s main festivities, which will take place from 9 to 13 August, was held in the plaza de la Vendimia. It was organised by the fiestas department run by councillor Daniel Muñoz.
The gala began with a performance by local artist Alba Navarro, followed by the presentation of the children’s and youth candidates, both male and female.
In front of a large audience and much of the town council, the stage was filled with colour and with the excitement shown by the youngest members of the community. There was also a hint of nervousness among the youth candidates, although this did not stop them from enjoying a gala that was very moving for everyone present.
The finalists in the boys’ children’s category were Cristian Medina Fernández, Juan Mazagatos Auñón, Jesús López Umbría and Francisco Castillo Benítez, while the children’s mister for our fair is Rafael Zúñiga Benítez.
In the girls’ category, the children’s ladies are Aroa Serrano Macías, Gala Heredia del Rio, Noa Gómez Sánchez and Julia Barragán Gavira, and the children’s queen of the fair is Judit Delgado Morales.
As is usual for the children’s categories, luck decided the winners, as it is done by draw.
Moving on to the youth category, the jury, made up of Carlos Álvarez, María José Claro, Araceli Luque, Raúl Espinosa and Esteban Espinosa, had the difficult task of choosing the winners in each of the categories.
The boys who will represent Manilva at its festivities are the finalists Juan de la Torre Recio, Javier Becerra López, Juan Carlos Gil Martín and Nacho García Holgado, with Rodrigo Sánchez Díaz as mister.
As for the girls, the ladies are Tamara Benítez Valadez, Amelia Dulewska, Blanca Ramírez Pavón and Saray Quirós Morales, who form the court of honour of this year’s youth queen for 2023, María Viruel Bonilla.
