Good news for the progress of the unfinished projects in our municipality: the pedestrian path that will link Manilva and Sabinillas is back in the news following the announcement that it will continue as far as the centre of Manilva. Representatives of Manilva Town Hall, led by mayor José Manuel Fernández and the Infrastructure and Works councillor, Marco Ruiz, recently met at the Association of Municipalities of the western Costa del Sol (Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental) to discuss the details and the roadmap for this important piece of infrastructure, which will join the two population centres.
The long-awaited coastal path, whose total cost is estimated at around 5 million euros, will be built in three phases, given the complexity and size of the terrain it covers. According to the information provided after the meeting, the first phase of the project is already under way.
Aware of the scale of the investment, the second phase has been planned to be carried out strategically, divided into different stages to fit the available budget allocations and ensure the work continues. This staged approach will allow residents to begin enjoying parts of the future path as sections are completed.
One of the key points of the meeting was confirmation that the route of the path will be extended significantly, reaching the very entrance to Manilva, which will make access and connection easier for residents of both areas.
Mayor Fernández and Councillor Ruiz expressed their satisfaction with the progress made and reiterated the governing team’s commitment to making this project a reality as soon as possible. Completion of the Manilva-Sabinillas pedestrian path will not only significantly improve residents’ quality of life, offering a new space for leisure, sport and enjoyment of the coastal surroundings, but will also fulfil the council meeting agreements previously adopted, demonstrating the political will to carry this important piece of infrastructure forward for the municipality.
More details are expected in the coming months on the specific timetable for the next stages of the second phase, as the technical and financial aspects are finalised. The future path is undoubtedly shaping up to be a new tourist attraction and a valuable asset for sustainable mobility in the municipality.
