The Partido Popular denounces mayor Mario Jiménez's blocking of information

-

The Partido Popular Municipal Group publicly denounces the systematic and deliberate blocking of access to information by the mayor, Mario Jiménez, and his governing team.

The repeated refusal to provide municipal files is not a simple administrative disagreement: it is a direct violation of councillors’ right to carry out their work of oversight and scrutiny, a right recognised by the Constitution and essential in any democracy.

The Mayor’s Office, with the signature of Mario Jiménez himself, is denying us access to municipal documentation in writing, without any legal justification. In response to clear and specific requests such as:

• Access to the complete file or a full copy, without exception, of certain municipal matters.

• Making available to the Municipal Group the official diary of the Urban Planning councillor for 2 February.

The only reply received has been a terse «they have been deemed answered». No arguments. No explanation. No documentation.

This way of acting reflects a worrying lack of transparency in municipal management and an evident attempt to prevent the opposition from carrying out its oversight work. One cannot speak of transparency while basic information is being withheld from public representatives.

For this reason, the Partido Popular has already begun the necessary action to seek access, through the courts, to the files to which we are legally entitled.

We also announce that we will prepare further action to demand:

• The detailed list of all supplements and bonuses paid during Mario Jiménez’s term in office.

• Full information on the supplements and bonuses paid over the last five years, requested both at council meetings and in writing and never provided.

It is unacceptable that the governing team refuses to provide basic financial information relating to the use of public funds.

We will not allow the Town Hall to become a space of opacity and unchecked decisions. We will defend to the end the right of councillors to access information and the right of the residents of Manilva to know how their resources are managed.

If the mayor persists in his attitude of obstruction, it will be the courts that have to remind him of the limits of his authority.
