This Saturday, 20 December, begins at 16:00 with the official opening of this themed space, which will feature workshops, musical performances and visits from children’s characters until the end of the month.
This Saturday marks the start of one of the events most eagerly awaited by the youngest during the Christmas season in our town in recent years. From today, the Parque del Duque becomes the epicentre of Christmas with the opening of the Christmas Village, designed to offer entertainment and magic to residents and visitors of all ages.
An opening full of rhythm and tradition
The gates of the Village will open today at 16:00. After the official opening, the programme for this first day will reach its high point at 19:30 with performances by the Coro y Zambomba, which will bring the most traditional sounds of this time of year. In addition, the dance students of the EMMDAT (Escuela Municipal de Música, Danza y Teatro, the Municipal School of Music, Dance and Theatre) will give a performance that promises to move the audience.
Programme for the coming days
The Christmas Village does not stop today. Tomorrow, Sunday 21 December, activity will begin at midday (13:00) with a performance by the EMMDAT adults at 13:00. Due to the weather forecast, the Children’s Choir concert will take place on Monday at the Iglesia de Sabinillas at 13:00.
Father Christmas has postponed his visit (according to the official programme) because of the weather conditions, to Monday 22 from 16:00.
During the coming week, the site will keep its usual opening hours of 16:00 to 21:00 (except for 24 December, when it will open from 10:00 to 15:00), culminating on 28 December with the children’s musical «De ellos aprendí» at 18:00.
Workshops and Disney characters
In addition to the scheduled performances, the site will continuously offer a range of children’s workshops where the little ones can develop their creativity:
- Making Christmas cards.
- Creative baking.
- Making soaps and Christmas trees.
- Crafts and face painting.
The magical atmosphere will be completed by characters who will walk around the park, including the Grinch, Jack Skellington, Chip and Dale, Goofy, Rudolph the Reindeer, Mickey and Minnie, among many others.
The Town Hall invites all residents to take part in these activities, which aim to «fill the town with love and joy» at this special time of year.
