The councillor for Education, Daniel Muñoz, received notification yesterday from the Health District (Distrito Sanitario) announcing that the AstraZeneca vaccine will be given to teaching staff at schools, nursery schools, the secondary school and the Escuela de Música.
Under the guidelines set by the Junta de Andalucía regarding vaccination groups and ages, this will be a further step towards safety in these centres, where many young people come together.
Staff are already receiving the vaccine today, and the process will continue over the coming days.
The vaccine consists of two doses, given between 10 and 12 weeks apart. It is voluntary, with verbal consent, and for the time being it is not possible to choose the type of vaccine. Anyone who had a COVID infection less than six months ago will not be given an appointment for now; their case will be assessed by their school COVID reference nurse, who will contact the patient by telephone to assess vaccination.
