Scare at Puerto de la Duquesa

-

At around 11:00 this morning, a man collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest in the car park of Puerto de la Duquesa, triggering the full coordination protocol of the 061 emergency services, which even sent a helicopter.

Part of the governing team was in the area when the man collapsed and tried to carry out initial resuscitation efforts, together with the Local Police, who took an AED (automated external defibrillator) from their vehicle. An emergency services technician who was off duty in the area came over to help with the resuscitation. The cardiac arrest caused the man to fall and hit his head, resulting in a head injury that made the resuscitation efforts somewhat more difficult.

Civil Protection also went to the scene and coordinated the transfer of the patient to Castillo de la Duquesa, where the 061 helicopter landed. Once he had been stabilised, the helicopter then took the man to the Hospital Costa del Sol in Marbella.
