The living representation of «The Passion of Christ» was staged yesterday through the streets of Manilva and was a resounding success in every way, despite the initial setbacks. The event, which was eagerly awaited by a very large crowd in the streets, finally went ahead after a delay of an hour and a half; unforecast rain raised fears that it would be called off. Fortunately, the rain stopped, allowing the performance to begin inside the Iglesia Santa Ana and the remaining scenes scheduled outdoors to go ahead as normal.
Despite these unforeseen problems, «The Passion of Christ» captivated, moved and surprised the audience, who enjoyed the moving re-enactment of the last moments of the life of Jesus in the various settings arranged around the town. The commitment of the actors, the music, the atmosphere, the sets and the technical effort all contributed to the success of the performance, which far exceeded all expectations.
The organisers, actors and public celebrated the end of the event, which managed to overcome all difficulties and offered Manilva a memorable cultural and religious day. The success of this edition consolidates «The Passion of Christ» as a notable date in the town’s Holy Week, and suggests it could become a draw with great tourist and cultural potential in the province.
