Reorganisation of the bins at the Port

-

Manilva Town Hall has launched a plan to reorganise and relocate the waste management area in the busy car park at Puerto de la Duquesa. The aim, according to the council, is to improve the appearance and functionality of the area, while maintaining a fundamental principle for residents and visitors: not a single parking space will be lost as a result of this adjustment.

The Cleaning department councillor, Gema Zotano, together with the area director, Carlos González, visited the Port to oversee the start of the works on site.

Farewell to the underground bins

The main action within this plan involves removing the unusable underground bin infrastructure that was located at this spot. The decision was taken after it was found that the obsolete system had serious structural damage, was out of use and was at risk of collapse.

This problem is not new in the municipality. Manilva has dealt in the past with the uselessness of this type of infrastructure in other areas, as happened years ago in Sabinillas, where repairs or replacements also had to be carried out due to problems such as water leaks. In fact, the removal of underground bins had already begun in other parts of the municipality, given that their lack of functionality caused dirt and an inefficient use of space.

In short, the reorganisation of this space seeks to replace an ineffective system with a more functional layout of surface bins, ensuring improved cleanliness, without reducing the availability of parking for users of one of Manilva’s key spots, where parking, as in other places in the municipality, is conspicuous by its absence.
