The mayor of Manilva, José Manuel Fernández, together with the councillor for Infrastructure and Works, Agustín Vargas, and the Culture councillor, Fina Gómez, have visited the emblematic Plaza de la Vendimia to oversee the improvements being carried out in this public space.
The works, which are being carried out by staff from the municipal job pool, include repairing the paving problems the square had as a result of neglect in recent years. In addition, the existing features of the square will be painted and tidied up.
An open and versatile space
One of the most significant changes will be the removal of the central fountain, which will be replaced by a new ground-level fountain. This new fountain will be switched on when the water situation allows, and will help create an open and versatile space for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Enhancing the historic heritage
Regarding the oven hidden in the square, the governing team has passed on the need to find a suitable solution to the Delegate for Tourism, Sport and Culture of the Junta de Andalucía, Gemma del Corral Parra. The Town Hall’s idea is to highlight this element of the historic heritage, either by relocating it elsewhere or by restoring it and displaying it in the square itself.
