The Infrastructure and Works department of Manilva Town Hall has been working over the past few days to reinforce the rock wall at Castillo de la Duquesa, in the area of the Arroyo del Estanquillo.
Due to the strong easterly (levante) storms that batter our coast during the winter, the huge stones that protect this part of the town had been shifting because of the force of the sea. For this reason, the Town Hall decided to work on improving the rock wall so that residents can feel safe on the days when the levante has a major impact on this area.
Diego José Jiménez visited the works a few days ago and spoke to us about the importance of carrying out preventive work, although he noted that the administrative procedures for building a semi-submerged breakwater are continuing, in order to find a definitive solution to this problem.
As we already know, the problem at the Castillo, as the councillor pointed out, goes back years and worries residents during major storms, which is why work is carried out on the rock wall from time to time.
