The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated a red alert for high temperatures in the province of Málaga for this Wednesday, with temperatures of up to 42 degrees possible along the coast. Specifically, the whole province will be at risk from the heat, although it will be the coastal areas where temperatures offer no respite and, far from easing, the warnings increase, moving to orange and red level from 13:00 until 21:00, according to data published by the state agency.
The worst of this heatwave will be felt on the Costa del Sol and Guadalhorce, which will be at extreme risk throughout the afternoon this Wednesday. Here thermometers could reach 42 degrees. This warning will only be in force on Wednesday and, despite being the second this July, it will give way to an atmospheric situation with slightly milder temperatures.
To avoid emergency situations during periods of heat, Emergencias 112 Andalucía recommends staying hydrated at all times, especially in the case of children, older people and those with chronic illnesses, as well as avoiding going out during the hottest hours and wearing a hat, cap and sunglasses for protection. It is advisable to keep the windows, curtains and blinds most exposed to the sun firmly closed and to use a fan or air conditioning whenever possible.
