Puerto de la Duquesa reopens the Mikonos car park

-

Puerto de la Duquesa has had a new parking area since Friday with the opening of the Mikonos car park, a facility that will not only expand the parking available in one of the busiest areas of the municipality, but also stands out for its commitment to social inclusion.

The project is the result of collaboration between the Vehicle Fleet department of Manilva Town Hall, headed by Laura Salazar, and the association Afesol, an organisation dedicated to the employment and social integration of people with mental health problems and other vulnerable groups.

The initiative has an important social component, as it will promote the hiring of people with disabilities, with mental health problems or at risk of social exclusion, thereby encouraging a management model that combines the provision of a public service with the creation of job opportunities.

The presentation of the new car park was attended by the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez; the Vehicle Fleet councillor, Laura Salazar; and the Infrastructure and Works councillor, Marcos Ruiz, who highlighted both the usefulness of this new facility and the positive social impact it will have.

The Mikonos car park has 100 parking spaces and will initially open from 10:00 to 02:00. According to the Town Hall, once the outstanding technical work is completed, the site will be open 24 hours a day.

As for the rates, parking will cost 1 euro between 12:00 and 22:00, 2 euros between 22:00 and 02:00, while stays of more than 24 hours will cost 16 euros.

With this new facility, the Town Hall aims to respond to the growing demand for parking in Puerto de la Duquesa, especially during the summer season, improving mobility in the area while promoting a project with a clear focus on social responsibility and employment inclusion.
