The project presented with great fanfare barely 8 months ago at the International Tourism Fair «Fitur» has been rejected. It was described as «the most important investment ever made in our municipality, the exclusive project that will mark a before and after in the present and future of our town», according to the Town Hall itself.
The Municipal Planning Authority (GEUMA) of Manilva has decided to reject the Preliminary Draft of the Partial Development Plan OC-U.1 «Llanos del Tabano» because it fails to meet the objectives and requirements set out in the General Municipal Development Plan.
It should be noted that the project, presented by the previous administration in collaboration with the international developer DarGlobal, aimed to create two exclusive properties for equestrian and golf use. However, according to the Town Hall’s technical and legal reports, the project was not viable.
The decision to reject the project was supported by several parties, including the Partido Popular, Izquierda Unida, VOX and the Partido Socialista, while Compromiso Manilva abstained. The rejection was based on the project’s lack of technical and legal viability, backed by 19 points addressed at GEUMA, each with its own technical and legal reports.
The mayor and the Manilva Planning Authority praised the technical and legal professionals for their diligence, efficiency and excellent work in reaching this decision. They also stressed that the main aim is to «work for the interests of Manilva and achieve real, sustainable development that benefits the municipality», in the words of Mayor José Manuel Fernández.
