The project, which exceeds two million euros, plans to build the new sports facility in the sports complex in the Manilva town centre.
Manilva Town Hall has announced further progress on the project to build a new 7-a-side football pitch in Manilva, a development that will also include 120 underground parking spaces and will have a budget of more than two million euros.
The project is conceived as a joint development to expand the municipality’s sports facilities and, at the same time, increase parking provision in an area where sporting activity generates considerable demand for spaces.
According to the Town Hall, the new facility will be located in the Manilva sports complex, specifically on the site currently occupied by the so-called court B of the sports hall. The plans include building a 7-a-side football pitch with the corresponding equipment and ancillary services, while the underground car park will be built beneath the sports facility.
The announcement represents a step forward from the recent statements made by the Urban Planning councillor, Juan Carlos Morejón, who had already explained that the aim was to use the project for the new sports facility to also address the parking problem.
Morejón said at the time that the municipality faced two related needs: on the one hand, growing demand for facilities to play football and, on the other, the need for more parking spaces. The proposed solution is to build a two-level structure, with the car park on the lower level and the 7-a-side pitch on the upper level.
The project enters its tender preparation phase
The Town Hall says the project is currently being finalised and that the corresponding geotechnical study is already available. Once the technical documentation is complete, the next step will be drawing up the tender specifications so that the work can be put out to tender.
The Sports councillor, Rogelio Pascual, and the Urban Planning councillor, Juan Carlos Morejón, accompanied by municipal technicians, have visited the site to work on the project and define the characteristics of the future facility on the ground.
The development also responds to the growing demand for sports spaces. The Town Hall maintains that football is growing in the municipality and that the existing facilities have become limited in the face of the increasing number of users and teams.
An investment of more than two million euros
One of the new details to emerge is the size of the planned car park: 120 underground spaces, which would be integrated into the new sports infrastructure.
For the moment, the project is still in the administrative preparation phase. The next milestone will be to finalise the documentation, draw up the tender specifications and publish the corresponding tender, so the actual construction of the facility will remain pending until these procedures are completed.
