The mayor of Manilva and head of Urban Planning, José Manuel Fernández, has once again received the owners and investors at the Town Hall to continue moving forward with the possibility of creating a High Performance Centre in the Martagina area.
Under the name “Villa Olímpica Martagina”, the project would combine sport, nature and the environment, creating more than one hundred jobs for its operation.
Layout of the complex:
- Ice Palace: powered by self-sufficient electricity from solar panels, avoiding the use of water resources.
- Cycling circuit: for professional and amateur use.
- Archaeological area: enhancing the value of the site to promote culture through guided visits.
- Residential: a residential belt for athletes and their families.
- Catering: to meet the needs of residents on site.
- Padel court: expanding the sporting possibilities.
- Equestrian centre: synergy between the La Equina hospital and the Sotogrande Polo Club.
- Football pitches: elite standard, to host professional teams.
- Parking area: for good organisation and convenience.
- Nature: care for the environment with extensive green areas.
Following this meeting, the project will be submitted to the Junta de Andalucía to obtain environmental viability approval, and it was also recalled that the support of the Consejo Superior de Deportes (Spain’s Higher Sports Council) will be requested.
