This afternoon, in the council chamber of Manilva Town Hall, the presentation of the 9th Manilva BTT (mountain bike race) took place. The event will be held on 1 October and will cover a 50 km route through the municipality of Manilva. The presentation was chaired by Sports councillor Rogelio Pascual, accompanied by Agustín Vargas and Gema Zotano from the municipal corporation, and by members of the board of the Club Ciclista Manilva, who set out the details of the event.
Rogelio began by congratulating everyone on nine years of backing this sporting event, and on having decided that this edition should pay a small tribute to Civil Protection, who have been chosen for this year’s poster in recognition of all the help they have always given to the event.
Alejandro Granados, president of CCManilva, thanked the Town Hall for its collaboration once again this year and explained that the childcare service will be available again this year for the children of any participants who wish to use it, giving their parents the chance to take part without worries. He also explained that participants will be able to enjoy a paella at the end of the race while the prizes are presented.
Francisco Vázquez presented the details of the route itself, which passes along the beach on the coastal path and through the lago pajaritos area, which could not be included last year because of the rain. Vázquez said the route is in quite good condition and that some sections still need clearing, which will be done shortly.
Agustín Vargas thanked all the companies and associations involved that collaborate every year so that this event can become a reality.
