Preliminary surveys begin for the creation of car parks

-

This week sees the start of preliminary studies for the construction of at least one car park in Sabinillas, with the aim of addressing the shortage of parking spaces, especially during the high season.

Several locations under study

Several locations are being considered to house between 300 and 1,000 parking spaces. Once the surveys are completed, the most suitable one will be selected, with the aim of having at least one of these projects operational before the end of the current term of office.

Geotechnical and cultural challenges

According to the mayor of Manilva, José Manuel Fernández, Sabinillas presents two main challenges for the construction of a car park: the water table, which could be resolved with appropriate techniques, and the possible presence of archaeological remains in the area of calle Vicente Espinel.

La Colonia and the green corridor, other options

In addition to the initial locations, other areas are being assessed, such as La Colonia and the existing green corridor between Puerto de la Duquesa and the Castillo. The preliminary studies estimate that the latter could hold more than 1,000 vehicles.

A step forward in improving quality of life

The construction of a car park in Sabinillas would represent a significant step towards improving the quality of life of residents and visitors, especially during the summer months. Agreements have currently been reached with the owners of several plots of land in different parts of the municipality so that they can be used temporarily as public car parks, easing the lack of parking during the high season or at one-off events.
