Called for next Monday 23rd at 13:00, the third extraordinary council meeting of the month is an urgent one and could lead to institutional deadlock, according to statements made by the Vox councillor on his own social media: «The VOX Manilva Municipal Group wishes to put on record that, if this is going to be the ‘modus operandi’ of this Administration, our voting stance on urgent matters is going to change radically, despite the consequence that may be the deadlock of the Institution.» Marín said yesterday, before the new council meeting was announced, adding: «In any case, we wish to put on record that the exception cannot be abused, and unfortunately this is what is happening. Extraordinary Council Meetings of an Urgent Nature mean taking important decisions with the bare minimum of study and preparation.»
We remind readers that the current corporation is governing in a minority and needs the approval or abstention of one more opposition councillor to pass not only the items proposed to the council meeting: the urgent meeting itself must be approved by majority before it begins. At this time of year, when many people take holidays to visit their families, this meeting, with items of extreme sensitivity, could go ahead «or not» thanks to the opposition groups or the absence of one of them.
Among the items on the agenda is the last one: out-of-court recognition of debts so that the December salaries of municipal employees can be paid. We remind readers that in 2010, municipal employees suffered delays in their salaries at the same time of year.
The items to be discussed are as follows:
- File 10101/2024. Invoices from Sociedad Estatal Correos y Telégrafos S.A.
- File 5049/2018. Report and proposal for amendment of the regulation governing tax collection management
- File 14914/2024. Out-of-court recognition of debts 5/2024 (invoices and homeowners’ association fees)
- File 15624/2024. Out-of-court recognition of debts 6/2024 (December salaries)
