The Diputación de Málaga has held the latest Mujer del Año 2025 (Woman of the Year) gala in Jubrique, an event recognising the work or example of women from the province’s municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, at the proposal of the various equality departments. It is the last of the four regional tributes organised by the provincial body to mark International Women’s Day, which was commemorated on 8 March.
Today’s gala honoured 12 women from the regions of the Serranía de Ronda and the western Costa del Sol, and among them was our Manilva neighbour Concepción Ferrer Ramírez, known as Conchi Pili, a multifaceted artist and entrepreneur born in Sabinillas, committed to her town and with a distinguished career in the world of photography, where she has been recognised with awards such as the Politur and the María Galeote 3M Scotch. Her photograph was on the front page of UNESCO’s official website for years and appeared in a commemorative edition of the organisation. As well as founding the Heladería Da Vinci together with her family, she has left an indelible mark on Manilva through her ceramic murals made using the cuerda seca technique. She has also been a teacher, a cultural promoter with the magazine ‘Manilva’, and a much-loved figure for her sensitivity, creativity and commitment to the community.
During the event, the councillor for Equality at the Diputación, María Dolores Vergara, said: «I feel fortunate to be able to share this last gala of the year with twelve women who are an example to follow, who have managed to break down barriers and become role models in their towns. So much so that it was their own municipalities that proposed them for this award, which the Diputación de Málaga presents with such pride.»
