Since last Friday we have been able to see that the works by the construction company OBC de Otero in the town are completely halted, and we are witnessing suppliers removing materials due to non-payment and breaches of contract by the developer. On the same Saturday, the office modules that the company had installed at the Don Amaro site were removed, along with all the material and equipment inside them.
We would particularly highlight the projects Otero was carrying out in the area, such as Aquamarina, Don Amaro and Duquesa Valley, as well as its flagship, the Oceanic project in the La Paloma area, which involves building 25 luxury villas with panoramic sea views, in three types (Silver-Gold-Unique), with prices ranging from €1,387,000 to €1,820,000. According to Manilva Town Hall, it would have a significant economic impact on the town, with a total investment of 42 million euros. Job creation was another of the benefits highlighted by Otero Group at the start of the development, which it put at 100 new direct jobs and around 200 indirect jobs through the various companies that would work for them.
As of today, according to what this newsroom has been able to confirm, many suppliers have payments withheld, small companies are suddenly facing real difficulties in continuing to operate, and long-serving workers do not know for certain what their future holds, while having to be on a site with no bosses or workers.
British, Belgian, Polish and Northern European customers with high purchasing power were among the first to buy villas in the first phase of Oceanic, and they now see their significant investment on the Costa del Sol becoming complicated.
After a week of inactivity, the company has so far issued no statement, and it is not known whether the stoppage affects all the works the company has across the Costa del Sol or only those in the town.
For Manilva Town Hall it has come as a surprise, and it views with concern the problems this has caused for many local businesses. The urban planning department has begun drawing up reports on the condition of many roads, some of them half-finished, for which the Town Hall is holding a guarantee of around two million euros in case the company is unable to complete them.

En Torremolinos también tienen una obra parada, que yo sepa es en toda la Costa del sol.
Donde esta el dinero ?
