The party Por Mi Pueblo held a public presentation event on Sunday at a packed Bar Rojas in Manilva, at which its local secretariat was officially constituted, marking the launch of a new, purely municipalist political project in the town.
The event was attended by provincial and local representatives of the party, as well as residents and supporters, and served to explain the general lines of a project which, according to the speakers, is based on closeness to the public, political independence and a style of government focused exclusively on the interests of the municipality.
The presentation included a speech by María Leonor Muñiz, national general secretary of Por Mi Pueblo, who stressed that the party «is not just a name, but a way of doing politics», based on listening to residents, being present on the street and prioritising the solution of the municipality’s real problems. Muñiz highlighted the commitment of the new local team and encouraged its members to focus their work on the needs of residents above any other consideration.
For his part, the provincial secretary and mayor of Ojén, Juan Merino, highlighted the value of municipalism as an alternative to the large traditional parties and defended a political model independent of external directives. Merino described his municipality’s experience as an example that «another way of doing politics is possible», and expressed his support for the local team in Manilva, whom he encouraged to work with perseverance and closeness to win residents’ trust.
The founder of the project and mayor of Benamocarra, Abdeslam Lucena, emphasised that Por Mi Pueblo was created with the sole aim of working for municipalities, with no aspiration to become a professionalised party or to stand in regional or general elections. He explained that the party defends the complete freedom of each local candidacy to decide its own course, provided the proposals benefit the town and its residents.
The focus of the event was on the new local team, headed by Daniel Muñoz, local secretary of Por Mi Pueblo Manilva, who thanked those present for their support and presented the project as an open, inclusive initiative far removed from ideological blocs. Muñoz defended the need for «fresh air» in the municipality and advocated a style of politics based on active listening, public participation and work done ahead of the elections, without improvisation or last-minute campaigns.
Alongside him spoke Irene Martín, local coordinator, who will be part of the team responsible for structuring the project in the municipality and broadening the party’s social base in Manilva, Sabinillas, El Castillo and the other population centres.
It was reiterated during the event that Por Mi Pueblo Manilva is a project under construction, open to residents of different political leanings joining, provided they share the common aim of improving the municipality through honesty, transparency and commitment to public service.
With this presentation, Por Mi Pueblo officially begins its journey in Manilva ahead of the next municipal elections, with the intention of consolidating a localist alternative focused on the development of the municipality and on improving residents’ quality of life.
