Today the president of the Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol Occidental (Mancomunidad), José Antonio Mena, and the Investment Delegate, Juan Olea, visited Manilva to mark the completion of the work to replace the toilets along our coastline, as well as the installation of the children’s play park located between La Colonia beach and Puerto de la Duquesa.
Representing the municipality were the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, councillor Diego José Jiménez, the head of the Beaches department, Eva Galindo, the councillor for Parks and Gardens, Francisco Becerra, and councillor Daniel Muñoz, who is also a representative on the Mancomunidad, as is Pilar Zúñiga.
According to Mena, this grant of 385,000 euros has made it possible to renovate the 15 toilet blocks now in place along the whole Manilva coastline, and to install this new area for the little ones, which consists of a fully certified boat measuring around 16 metres in length. It has also funded the purchase of a new tractor, which will join the machinery responsible for cleaning the beaches.
The mayor highlighted the good relations between the Town Hall and supramunicipal bodies, congratulating all parties on delivering these improvements within the set deadlines.
For the first deputy mayor, it was very important that this investment be devoted entirely to improving our coastal area, in order to present the best possible image in the new season.
Councillor Eva Galindo, who applied for this grant at the start of the year, said she was pleased with the renewal of the facilities and the new children’s area, as well as the machine, which will soon be operational.
Now that the Investment Plan for the member municipalities has been completed, Eva Galindo said that the new leisure area will be opened with a party with entertainment, as soon as the weather allows.
Everyone agreed that residents and people who choose Manilva for their holidays will find the appearance and the services offered by our beaches greatly improved in the new bathing season.
