Manilva Town Hall, through the councillor for Health, Juan Carlos Morejón, has held a meeting with the director of the Costa del Sol Health District, Miguel Ángel Cuerda, who has also run the Sabinillas Health Centre in recent years. The aim of the meeting was to review the health situation in the municipality and to convey residents’ growing discontent over delays in primary care, which are affecting both the quality of the service and the health of the population.
During the meeting, the councillor voiced the concerns of residents, who have complained that delays in medical care are having a negative impact on their wellbeing. Although health management is not a direct responsibility of the Town Hall, Morejón has offered the Health District his cooperation in finding short-term solutions to improve the situation.
A paediatrician twice a week for a population of 20,000
Regarding the paediatrician situation, according to the Health councillor, one of the short-term solutions being considered is to have a paediatric service twice a week (for a population of close to 20,000) and the possibility of attending the paediatric service in Estepona at any time.
According to our information, appointments for paediatrics, which had been suspended for two weeks, started to be given again today.
