The mayor and Compromiso Manilva candidate for the municipal elections on 28 May, Mario Jiménez, has signed before a notary six commitments to the residents of Manilva should he be elected mayor after the municipal elections.
In the legal document signed at the notary’s office in Sabinillas, the head of the list has pledged to push forward six measures if he returns to lead the Town Hall: a plan to build 235 subsidised housing units (VPO) in the municipality; use of Manilva’s municipal swimming pool 365 days a year; a care home for the elderly; a socio-cultural centre in Sabinillas; the expansion of the industrial estate and a new access road to it; and a municipal employment plan.
The candidate and current mayor of Manilva said that this signing reflects «our commitment to keep improving our municipality through solutions, projects and ideas, always thinking of people. We are making this commitment before a notary in a public document because, as I already committed to in the document I signed in 2019, we are going to deliver and carry it out», said Jiménez.
The first of these commitments is the construction of 235 subsidised housing units, «housing is a priority in our project, which is why I am committing to building 235 VPO homes during the next term: 100 in Manilva, 110 in Sabinillas and 25 in El Castillo».
The second commitment is to make Manilva’s municipal swimming pool usable 365 days a year. «We are going to install a mobile cover to turn this pool into a heated one as well, so it can be used not only in summer but all year round. We are also going to expand and modernise the facilities next to the pool.»
Jiménez stressed that this term will be one for «our older residents, and so one of the milestones I have committed to is the construction of the Maicandil Residencia de Mayores. It will be a publicly subsidised care home with public places and 100 rooms, located on the municipal plot opposite the Pueblo Mexicano, and to this will be added a day centre in Manilva».
The Compromiso Manilva candidate has also signed before a notary the construction of the socio-cultural centre in Sabinillas, «a space with a play centre and children’s library, municipal library, study room, networking area, youth centre, museum area, cafeteria and restaurant, and it will also have a pedestrianised open-air area».
The Compromiso Manilva candidate has also pledged to expand the Industrial Estate and build a new access to it, «it is important to expand a space that generates so much economic wealth for the municipality and in this way boost activity, as well as building a more accessible entrance».
Finally, the sixth commitment signed by Mario Jiménez is the launch of the Municipal Employment Plan, «measures for unemployment and support for young entrepreneurs, support for business owners who hire staff, support for business owners who hire for a minimum period, we will expand the range of employment training, as well as offering various courses, workshop schools and dual training».
