At the recent meeting of the Board of Directors of Urbanismo en Manilva (GEUMA), the budgets for 2024 were approved with the votes in favour of the Governing Team and the VOX Municipal Group in the municipality, on condition that «this body, which is running at a deficit, is dissolved by 2025», said the VOX spokesperson, Antonio Marín. This underlines the party’s continued commitment to controlling and reducing public spending in the town.
VOX councillor Antonio Marín expressed his satisfaction after the approval, highlighting the constructive collaboration between his group and the local government. «This approval not only reflects a responsible fiscal commitment, but also a step forward towards the optimisation of municipal resources,» Marín stated.
The agreement reached, which was crucial to VOX’s vote in favour, includes the dissolution of GEUMA in 2025. This precondition was set by VOX as essential for its support for this year’s budgets. «Our vote in favour comes on the condition that the municipal body, which has proved to be loss-making and of little activity, is dissolved, thus guaranteeing greater efficiency in public administration and significant savings for the people of Manilva,» explained the VOX councillor.
In this way, Manilva Town Hall will do away with a municipal company that has been generating losses, with the expectation of annual savings of more than €52,000 for the municipality. «It may not seem a very large amount but, when we are talking about public money, it is very important that we devote every euro to something that brings a genuine benefit to our residents, and this is not the case,» said Marín. The measure is in line with the objectives of austerity and administrative efficiency promoted by the VOX Municipal Group.
«It is one more step on the road to eliminating superfluous spending in the municipality»
This stance is not new for VOX Manilva. Previously, the party reached an investiture agreement with the Partido Popular, ensuring governability while committing to remain in the opposition, with the aim of guaranteeing transparency and continued oversight of the local government. «Our stance in opposition is not passive; it is active and constructive, focused on ensuring that the policies implemented are beneficial, necessary and economically viable for our residents,» Marín stated.
The VOX spokesperson reiterated his commitment to responsible oversight and the continued pursuit of efficiency in public management, promising to keep working for the benefit of all residents of Manilva. «We remain firm in our commitment not only to reducing unnecessary spending but also to promoting transparency, legality and viability in all municipal proposals and policies. This is essential for the wellbeing and progress of Manilva,» Marín concluded.
